Abul Hakam bin Abdurrahman Umar bin Ahmad bin Ali Al-Kirmani was a great scholar of the 12th century Cordova, Al-Andalus. He was a pupil of Al-Majriti Maslamah. He studied and worked in the field of geometry and logic. According to his Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Husayn ibn Hayy Al-Tajibi, "nobody is as smart as Al-Kirmani in understanding the geometry or the answers to the questions were difficult, and in showing all parts and forms." He then moved to Harran , Al-Jazirah (now located in Turkey). There he studied geometry and medicine. He then returned to Al-Andalus and lived in Sarqasta (Zaragoza). He is known to run surgical practices such as amputation and cauterization.
